Passengers safety

An air raid is expected. There are currently no objects posing a threat within Lithuanian territory.  

• Aircraft departures and arrivals are temporarily suspended. Passengers are being returned from the apron and aircraft to the terminal.
  
  WHAT SHOULD PASSENGERS DO?  
  
• Remain calm.  
• Monitor the information screens.  
• Listen to the public announcements and follow the instructions of airport staff. 

An air raid warning. An unidentified object is flying or is highly likely to enter Lithuanian airspace and may pose a threat within the country’s territory.

• All airport operations on the apron and in the terminals are suspended, and a relocation to safe locations begins. 
  
  WHAT SHOULD PASSENGERS DO?  

• Listen to audio announcements and follow airport staff instructions —they will escort you to the nearest safe area of the airport.  
• Remain in the safe area until further notice.  
  

The air raid warning has been lifted. Passengers and terminal staff may leave the safe areas.

• Airport operations on the apron and in the terminals are gradually resuming.  
• Passengers are being escorted from the safe areas back to the terminals.  
  
  WHAT SHOULD PASSENGERS DO? 
  
• Accompanied by airport staff, return to the terminal area where you were before the air raid warning was announced.  
• Check the flight information screens or the airport’s website for the latest information about your flight. 

During a yellow alert, movement is permitted; however, it is recommended to assess the situation and identify a safe place in advance in case a red air raid alert is issued. 

During a red air raid alert, you should proceed immediately to the nearest designated shelter. If no shelter is available, take refuge in a safe indoor location, following the “two-wall” rule. Individuals are responsible for deciding how to respond, but they are strongly advised to follow general safety recommendations and take care of their own safety and that of their loved ones. Airport operations are suspended while a red air raid alert is in effect. 

You are advised to remain calm, follow the instructions of staff, and act in accordance with the information and guidance provided. 

Immediately follow the instructions of airport staff and proceed to the nearest designated safe place.

Safe places are marked with “Safe Location” signs. You are also encouraged to ask airport staff for directions to the nearest safe location.  Stay away from windows. 

Flight operations depend on the situation, the instructions of institutions, and air traffic management decisions.  During both yellow and red air raid alerts, airport operations may be restricted or suspended, and flights may not operate. Passengers can find the latest information on the airport’s flight information displays, through their airline’s communication channels, or on the airport’s website.

Your checked baggage will remain in the custody of the airport and the ground handling service provider in accordance with established procedures. No further action is required on your part unless you are given specific instructions.

During a red air raid alert, you are advised to remain in a designated shelter or other safe location until an official announcement confirms that the alert has ended.

Information will be communicated through the country’s official public warning channels, as well as the airport’s public address system, flight information displays, and announcements from airport staff.

If a flight is cancelled or delayed due to an air threat (e.g., the threat of military action, missile attacks, or airspace closure), this is generally considered an extraordinary circumstance beyond the control of the airline or airport. Therefore, compensation does not usually apply.
