Who is subject to the obligation to provide passenger data?
Individuals and legal entities who:
- engages in the carriage of passengers by air to and from the Republic of Lithuania;
- complies with the conditions and requirements established for carriers in the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter referred to as air carriers).
What data must be provided?
Air carriers must provide:
- API (Advance Passenger Information) data;
- PNR (Passenger Name Record) data.
Data is provided to the Lithuanian Passenger Information Unit (PIU).
Legal basis
The provision of passenger data is regulated by:
- Council Directive 2004/82/EC of 29 April 2004 (API);
- Directive 2016/681 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (PNR);
- Law on the Fundamentals of Transport Activities of the Republic of Lithuania;
- other related legal acts.
