As 2019 is slowly coming to an end, Lithuanian Airports are already calculating the results obtained during the previous period \u2013 after the high number of achievements during the first half of the year, all aviation indicators continue to rise.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the last 9\u00a0months, there were 4.9\u00a0million passengers, 46.9\u00a0thousands of flights and 12.4\u00a0thousand tons of transferred cargoes at the Lithuanian Airports. According to the Head of Aviation Services Division Aurimas Stikli\u016bnas, the results for the third quarter of this year show a steady growth of aviation indicators.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCompared to the same period last year, all aviation indicators were improved \u2013 the number of passengers increased by 3%, the number of flights increased by 1% and the number of cargoes increased by 10%\u201d, said A.\u00a0Stikli\u016bnas.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The fastest growth in the number of passengers was at Kaunas Airport, which is the second largest airport of Lithuania \u2013 <\/span><\/span>this number increased up to 16%. The total number of passengers at this airport was over 879,000. There was a significant growth in the number of cargoes transferred at Kaunas Airport (14%), whereas the highest growth in the number of flights was noticed at Palanga Airport (8%).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMeanwhile, the most solid number was, as usual, demonstrated by the largest airport of the country, which compared to the peak year 2018, is stable so far and remains unchanged. We are planning to end this year at the same pace\u201d, said the Head of Aviation Services Division at the Lithuanian Airports.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The most popular destinations, which can be reached from the Lithuanian Airports, also remain unchanged. The United Kingdom, which is visited by 20% of passengers from Lithuania, remains the most popular destination in the list. Meanwhile, Germany takes the second place (10%) and Norway takes the third place (9%).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Currently, 92\u00a0directions can be reached from the national airports. During the last period of time, the most passengers (11%) travelled from Lithuania to London Luton Airport. The other popular directions are Copenhagen, Riga and Warsaw Chopin Airports.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to A.\u00a0Stikli\u016bnas, many factors significantly affect the successful activities of the national airports, including the consecutive and successful negotiations with the airlines, offered new directions, as well as properly chosen and implemented business development strategy of the company.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A map of destinations offered by the Lithuanian Airports is constantly updated; therefore, passengers will be able to travel from Vilnius Airport to London Southend Airport from November 2019; meanwhile, in October, they will be able to reach Kharkiv, which is the second largest city of Ukraine, as well as Israel\u2019s resort Eilat. Bergen\u2019s direction was introduced to the passengers of Palanga Airport, which will also launch the flights to Dublin soon.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the three quarters of this year, \u201cRyanair\u201d carried 33% of passengers from Lithuania while \u201cWizz Air\u201d carried 22% and \u201cAirbaltic\u201d carried 9% of passengers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
